Our unique low vision and specialty clinic is the only one in Kansas and Missouri dedicated to the full spectrum of visual performance including low vision rehabilitation, neuro-optometry, vision therapy, and developmental optometry.
What we do
Whether you’re visiting us at the Alphapointe Life Skills Campus or at our KC Vision Performance location in Overland Park, our goal is to create an individualized plan to help you embrace each day with confidence and hope.
Who should come for an appointment:
- You have 20/40 or worse vision in better eye WITH correction
- Brain injury has impacted your sight
- Difficulty with daily tasks like reading, using phone, cooking, etc.
- Scotoma or peripheral vision loss
- Contrast sensitivity loss
- Difficulty adjusting to vision changes

Low Vision Services
Our low vision clinic helps visually impaired patients regain their independence and live more productive lives.
Vision Therapy Services
Physical therapy for the eyes and brain. We’re devoted to developing, improving and enhancing visual performance for children and adults.
Neuro-Optometry Services
We treat patients who have experienced an accident, illness, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or concussion.
Orientation & Mobility
We provide low vision job training to help people with vision loss enter or re-enter the workforce and maintain their independence.
Adaptive Technology
We work with visually impaired clients to help them utilize technology – computers, cell phones, adaptive programs and services – to maximize independence and prepare for a job in the modern world.
Activities of Daily Living
For the visually impaired, typical daily tasks can become much more difficult. Alphapointe assists our clients in learning techniques that make it easier for you to manage your world.
Braille Reading & Writing
Alphapointe’s vision clinic teaches functional Braille so those with vision loss are able to navigate their home or the office as well as more comprehensive Braille for professional writing, on the job reading, and vocational placement.
Workshops & Education
Our staff offer workshops designed for medical professionals and educators. Each workshop is unique and hands-on.

Youth Programs
We aim to instill confidence, facilitate independence, and prepare youth to navigate a world without sight. Our yearly low-vision summer camp helps youth with vision loss build community, skills and most importantly, confidence.

We encourage activity, support independence and advocate dignity for seniors experiencing age-related vision loss.

Support Groups
Classes designed to help attendees get more comfortable with their vision loss by improving skills, sharing tips with other people who are blind or visually impaired, and through the support of trained experts in the vision loss field.
